Charity Partner
We are proud charity partners of Cancer Fund for Children for the month of December 2023. We will be raising much needed funds for the young people of Ireland and their families, going through childhood cancer. We will be doing this by adding an optional €2 to every bill at lunch/tea and dinner in each of our 9 venues. We are also selling beautiful Cancer Fund for Children Christmas cards and charity pins. Our goal is to raise €20,000 with the help of our loyal community, friends and supporters.
In August 2023, Oliver’s son Evan Dunne was diagnosed with childhood cancer. The last few months have been the hardest months of his family’s life and every parent’s worst nightmare. During Evans chemotherapy, they were introduced to http://cancerfundforchildren.com a charity that empower, connect and strengthen families so they feel better equipped to deal with the impact of cancer.
This charity provides individual, social and emotional support across Ireland to young people with cancer (0-24). Support is also available to their siblings and families directly in a location that feels most comfortable, e.g. family home, local coffee shop, school or any outdoor space. Providing the ‘right support, at the right time, in the right way.
Cancer treatment is frightening, challenging, and isolating and can devastate families emotionally, physically, and financially.
For a diagnosed child, months of gruelling treatment and its side effects can impact their mental health, their education, and their friendships. This is also an extremely worrying time for siblings who can feel like the forgotten child as their parents focus their attention on their sick sibling.
For many parents struggling to care for a child with cancer, whilst working and maintaining a family routine, a childhood cancer diagnosis can place an enormous strain on their relationships and their finances.
Children who are struggling to cope with their parent’s cancer diagnosis life becomes full of fear and uncertainty, whilst their parents worry about how to talk to their children about cancer.
Cancer Fund for Children understands the devastating impact a cancer diagnosis and its treatment have on the whole family, and that beyond the essential medical care, there is a family life that needs to be rebuilt.
“Our mission is to ensure that no child faces cancer alone”
